I have been a guest, on several occasions, at the
Caliente Tropics. It is an affordable alternative
to the "pricey" and, sometimes "over-rated" properties, particularly in the Palm Springs area.
Don't let its "mid-century motel" exterior fool you - the rooms make up for it! Although located next door to a Travelodge(dreadful!!), and other
not-so-nice "sub-standard" properties ("Cambridge Inn","Royal Sun" and "Motel 6" to name a few),
the Caliente Tropics is truly a gem with updated and, in some cases, lavishly furnished rooms. Not
exactly within walking distance of downtown, there are still plenty of noteworthy restaurants nearby(such as "Lyon's English Grill", "Rock Garden Cafe" to name just a couple), and the pool area and spa services are a plus!
Another positive is the relaxed, informal but attentive attention to the comfort of the guests!
Again, the so-called "curb appeal" might not impress you, but wait until after your check-in.
I highly recommend it and, although I have a condo nearby which is currrently being rented, this is my choice when I need a nice place to stay and soak-up that incredible Palm Springs environment. Give it a try - you'll be returning!
